This chimney in Council Bluffs had begun to show typical signs of age — deteriorating mortar joints, cracked brick, and areas where water had started to work its way in. Left alone, these issues would continue to weaken the structure. The goal was to restore the chimney’s stability while keeping its original appearance intact.
We installed scaffolding to safely access the upper sections and began by removing damaged mortar and any brick that could no longer be salvaged. Replacement brick was selected to closely match the existing material so repairs would blend naturally with the rest of the structure.
Once the brick replacement was complete, we performed full tuckpointing, carefully packing new mortar into the joints to seal out moisture and reinforce the chimney. After final cleaning, the chimney was structurally sound again and ready to withstand the elements for years to come.
